Upgrade your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller with TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joystick modules. TMR sticks use contactless magnetic sensing technology to provide precise stick-position detection without the traditional potentiometers responsible for many common stick-drift problems.

How It Works

  1. Place your order.
    Purchase the Xbox Elite Series 2 TMR Stick Upgrade through this page.
  2. Send us your controller.
    Ship your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller to our repair center using the instructions provided with your order.
  3. We install two TMR joystick modules.
    Both original joystick modules are removed and replaced with TMR modules.
  4. We calibrate and test the controller.
    The new sticks are calibrated and the controller is tested for proper joystick operation before being returned.
  5. We ship your upgraded controller back to you.
    Once the upgrade and testing are complete, your controller is packaged and returned to you.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE ORDERING.

Installing TMR sticks in an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller requires us to REMOVE the original magnetic joystick caps and the interchangeable stick-top system.

YOUR MAGNETIC ELITE STICK TOPS WILL NO LONGER WORK.

The magnetic stick caps will be replaced with standard black plastic joystick caps, similar to those found on an ordinary Xbox controller.

This means you will no longer be able to swap between the interchangeable magnetic stick tops that are normally one of the features of the Elite Series 2 controller.

If you enjoy or regularly use the interchangeable magnetic stick tops, THIS UPGRADE IS NOT FOR YOU.

Please do not purchase this service expecting us to retain the magnetic interchangeable stick system. We absolutely will not entertain complaints after the service is completed because this major change was overlooked, misunderstood, or because the service was ordered based on what a customer hoped or wanted the upgrade to be instead of what is clearly described on this page.

By ordering this service, you acknowledge and agree that the interchangeable magnetic stick-top feature will be removed as part of the TMR upgrade.

This is for Series 2 only. We do not offer service on the Series 1 elite controller.

How Do TMR Sticks Work?

Traditional controller joysticks generally use potentiometers to measure stick movement. These contain physical contact surfaces that move against one another as the joystick is used. Over time, wear or contamination of these components can contribute to inaccurate readings and stick drift.

TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joystick modules work differently. They determine joystick position by sensing changes in a magnetic field rather than relying on the traditional resistive contact surfaces used by potentiometer-based joystick modules.

Because the position sensing is contactless, the primary sensing components are not being physically rubbed across resistive tracks every time you move the joystick.

Why Can't We Keep the Elite 2 Magnetic Stick Tops?

This is where the design of the Xbox Elite Series 2 creates a problem.

The Elite Series 2 interchangeable stick-top system uses magnets to hold the removable stick tops in place. TMR joystick modules also rely on magnetic fields to determine the position of the joystick.

The magnets used by the Elite stick-top system can interfere with the magnetic field being measured by the TMR sensors. This can cause inaccurate or inconsistent joystick readings and interfere with proper calibration and operation.

For that reason, our TMR conversion does not retain the Elite Series 2 magnetic interchangeable stick caps. The magnetic hardware is replaced with conventional, non-magnetic black plastic joystick caps.

Service Scope

This service is specifically for replacing the two joystick modules in an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller with TMR joystick modules. It is not a general controller repair service.  We do offer LB/RB repair at the same time for an additional fee, you can check the box at the bottom if you need that as well. 

If your controller has additional problems unrelated to the joystick modules, those problems are not necessarily corrected by performing this upgrade.
