📋 Terms of Repair

By placing an order on this website and mailing your device in for repair, you are in agreement with the following terms:

⚠️ Repair Risks

Electronics repairs are unpredictable. Your device may not be repairable or may be damaged during a repair attempt and be rendered useless. We make every effort to be successful in a repair attempt, but there is always a risk that it will not be repaired and could potentially end up in worse condition. In the event that a repair is not successful, you will be responsible for return shipping fees.

💰 Device as Collateral for Payment

Payment is due upon completion of the repair, and we will send you a payment request (hereinafter referred to as an invoice) using our payment processor. Payment is due immediately upon invoice. After 30 days, if payment has not been made, the device will be considered abandoned and will be sold or salvaged to cover the cost of time and parts that went into your repair.

Likewise, if a device is not repaired and we invoice you for return shipping, and you do not pay the return shipping invoice, the 30-day rule applies.

🚚 Free Return Shipping

Items marked as free return shipping are for the continental United States only. All other areas, including Alaska and Hawaii, will be billed additional fees for shipping.

Free return shipping is built into the repair price. As such, if a device is not repaired — either because service is refused or because the repair attempt was not successful — free return shipping is NOT implied, and you must pay to have your item returned to you.

🛠️ Authorization to Work on the Device

I fully authorize DVD Game Exchange to disassemble my item, remove parts, install new parts, explore, and experiment in the attempt to repair my item.

🐜 Bugs / Animal Urine

If we open up a device and there are bugs (dead or alive), an automatic service charge of $25 will be added to the cost of service. We also reserve the option to immediately quit the service, close it back up, seal the item, and return it to the customer without service completion. The same applies to animal urine.

📬 Implied Agreement

If you mail an item in for repair, you are implied to agree to this terms page even if you didn't read it. This page is not hidden. It is your responsibility to be familiar with our terms before sending an item in. We do not accept cancellations. Once you mail it in, the device will be worked on and invoiced.

💧 Liquid Damage Disclaimer

Liquid damage will automatically void any warranty available, whether the liquid damage occurred before or after the service. We may elect to refuse repair on devices with liquid damage, but even if the device is serviced, there will be no warranty.

We do not "repair liquid damage," but we may repair components damaged by the liquid. Once a device has liquid damage, it is forever a liquid-damaged unit that may develop future problems.

🧰 Prior Repair Attempts

If a device has had prior repair attempts, this can often cause the repair process to take longer than anticipated, require additional parts, or cause a device to be non-repairable.

Because we aren't able to determine prior repair attempts until we have a device open and are actively working on it, we must disclose that prior repair attempts may add an additional fee to the repair if it causes longer than normal repair bench time. In addition, if it is determined that damages caused by a prior repair attempt result in a non-repairable device, we will charge a "repair attempt" fee for the time and parts used in the attempt.

🚫 No Refunds

There are no refunds. Service sales are final.

In the event that a repair fails within 60 days, we will re-perform the repair at no additional charge. The customer will be responsible for the cost to send it in again. We will cover return shipping to the customer. Claims of a failed repair will not satisfy a claim for a refund. We must be given the opportunity to inspect the device and re-perform the repair service.

🛡️ Warranty

All repairs are warrantied by DVD Game Exchange for a period of 60 days from the return delivery date.

  • Warranty covers defects in our service provided and will not cover damage caused by the customer.
  • Customers must use approved chargers for charging repair, and must use brand-new HDMI cords for HDMI repair to have warranty coverage.
  • Warranty means that we will repair the item again at no charge if the service provided fails within 60 days of the return delivery date.
  • Warranty only covers the specific issue that was addressed during initial drop-off. (For example, if you sent an item in for hard drive replacement, the service does not include and would not warranty that the optical drive worked or would continue to work.)

🔄 Data and System Reset

We make every effort to not reset a system and erase everything on it. We will reset a system if it is deemed necessary to achieve desired results.

For instance, sometimes after doing an HDMI port replacement on an Xbox, we find that the system is sort of "locked" into low resolution mode and must be reset to restore 4K output and HDR settings. Be advised that resetting a system can be part of any repair process, as we are focused on hardware repair and not software repair.

🧩 Modified Devices

We do not accept devices modified from their factory operational design for repair. This is to say, a custom shell is fine, but modified buttons, triggers, or software is not accepted. Do not send hacked or software-modded Nintendo Switch systems to us.
